Instatic, Framer or Webflow? We've shipped on all three.

Our own site runs on Instatic. Client sites still run on Framer and Webflow, and some of them should. Here's the honest read on speed, SEO and what you'll actually pay — checked 14 Sep 2026.

What we run

Instatic

Software $0 (MIT) · hosting from ~$5/mo on Railway, from $7/mo managed on InstaPods

  • Static HTML out of the box — sub-second LCP without a CDN trick, which is the single biggest ranking lever you control.
  • You own the box, the database and the export. No per-seat pricing, no "CMS plan" gate, no bandwidth ladder.
  • Built-in MCP: our agents publish, patch head tags, regenerate sitemaps and push IndexNow without a human in the loop.
  • Self-hosted means someone has to be the sysadmin. That someone can be us.
  • v0.0.x — the visual editor is young; complex animation is easier in Framer.

Best for: founders and agencies who publish a lot, care about speed and GEO, and don't want a $500/yr CMS bill per site.

Framer

Sites $10–$30/mo (Basic → Pro) · CMS 2,500 items on Basic · templates $0–$100+

  • The best design surface of the three. Motion, scroll effects and components without touching code.
  • Fast hosting on Framer's edge; Core Web Vitals are usually fine as long as you don't animate everything.
  • Ideal for a marketing site that a designer owns end-to-end.
  • Past 2,500 CMS items you're on Pro plus add-ons; locales and staff seats stack up.
  • Vendor-locked export; head/SEO control is good, not total.

Best for: design-led brands with a modest blog and a designer on call.

Webflow

Sites $15–$25/mo (Basic → Premium) · Enterprise custom · Workspace seats extra

  • The most complete visual CMS: collections, references, conditional visibility, localization, an ecosystem of apps.
  • Clean semantic output and serious SEO controls — 301s, canonical, schema via custom code.
  • Mature agency tooling: client billing, staging, roles.
  • Basic has no CMS at all — any blog means Premium, and code export needs a paid Workspace on top.
  • Steeper learning curve; a "quick edit" often needs the designer.

Best for: content-heavy marketing sites with a team, budget and a lot of structured content.

Where we deploy Instatic

Instatic is open source, so the choice is really about who runs the box. Four we've used, cheapest to most hands-off. Click through and we'll know you're mid-deploy — say the word and we'll finish it with a full migration.

Already started on a host? We'll finish the deploy and migrate your content in about a week, flat fee.Get the migration quote
